While we were on the Sonker trail we were able to meet Peanut the llama, who we joked about being the town’s mascot. As someone who is not really fond of animals, especially llamas, I made sure to keep my distance. With that said, it turned out that the llama actually visits the town every weekend, and his owner has a collection of 15 llamas at his local farm, not far from the downtown area of Mount Airy. Peanut enjoys kissing people and taking lots of pictures; he is an integral part of the Mount Airy community.
