Richardson, a US army veteran, has significant legislative experience having worked for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the North Carolina Indian Housing Authority, and is the currect executive director of the Commission for Indian Affairs. The commission administers programs designed to address Indian education, housing assistance, workforce development, domestic violence and Indian Child Welfare.
